AUSSIE HOOPS OVERVIEW

Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program. It provides a fun and inclusive Basketball experience for 4 to 10 year olds that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game. In addition to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, the program serves as a platform for social development and inclusion, fostering stronger and more vibrant communities and individuals.

Perry Lakes Hawks Basketball Association will begin implementing our Hawks Aussie Hoops Program in 2025 to give our community more opportunities to play and get involved in basketball. The program will run for 7 weeks during each school term.

During 2025, the Hawks Aussie Hoops Program will experiment with multiple different stages and experience levels. This ensures that for each age group, players are participating in activities and games that are relevant to their experience level and will help them prepare for their transition into our Junior Domestic Competition or further Hawks Programs.

Aussie Hoops Participant Packs are organised through Basketball Australia and are optional but are highly recommended for new participants.

 

4 – 6 YEAR OLDS (BEGINNER)

This session is designed for players in the youngest Aussie Hoops range, from 4 – 6 years old. The goal of the beginner session is to get new players excited and familiar with the game of basketball and teach them the basic skills necessary to prepare them to graduate into an intermediate session or our U8 Miniball Skill Sessions. This session is run with the lower, 8-foot rings.

Eligibility

Due to multiple factors our Hawks Junior Domestic Competition has reached capacity and to allow more players to participate and get involved in basketball, our Hawks Aussie Hoops Program is for players that are currently not registered for our Hawks Junior Domestic Competition and who meet the relevant age group requirements.

Each participant must be from 4 years of age to 6 years of age from the sessions start date.

Program Dates & Times

This stage will run from 4:00 – 4:45 pm on the below dates:

• 18^th of February 2025
• 25^th of February 2025
• 4^th of March 2025
• 11^th of March 2025
• 18^th of March 2025
• 25^th of March 2025

 

Participant Fees

• Aussie Hoops Participant Fee – $83.10
• Basketball WA Player Fee – $12.42
• Basketball Australia Player Fee – $4.48

Total per participant = $100.00 + PlayHQ transaction fee of 1.8%

 

6 – 10 YEAR OLDS (BEGINNER) – SOLD OUT   (email luke@hawksbasketball.com.au your interest if you missed out)

This session is designed for players who are slightly older kids, spanning from 6 – 10 years old. The goal of the beginner session is to get new players excited and familiar with the game of basketball and teach them the basic skills necessary to prepare them to graduate into an intermediate session or our Junior Domestic Competition. This session is run with the lower, 8-foot rings.
