The online athlete sessions are designed to develop your own self-awareness, enhance your mind-set, and support your wellbeing as you navigate the ups and downs of the WABL season. They also provide you with an opportunity to ask specific advice as the season progresses.
Some examples of the educational topics covered and discussed, but not limited to, are:
- Performance mind-set training and coaching
- Elite athlete’s sharing their stories
- Mental health literacy programs
- College preparation and insight
- Life-sport balance
- Development of non-athletic identity
- Hear from experts in S&C, Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Coaches etc.
These sessions are open to all athletes of all age groups and are completely optional.
If an Athlete Wellbeing Adviser is already working with your team separately, you will not have any need to attend these online sessions, unless of course you want to learn even more!
There is no cost for these sessions
Reflection & Follow-up
Following any completion of a goal, whether that be in a training session or a game, whether it was a success or failure, whether you win or lose, it is imperative that you reflect.
In doing so, you will allow yourself to:
- Learn what worked and what didn’t,
- Identify what you can do differently next time,
- See what didn’t serve you and what you can let go of,
- Acknowledge what you did well,
- Gain momentum towards your next goal.
Going through this process will help you solidify what you learned and move past your performance and towards your next goal.
Join me online every Monday evening throughout the season as I guide you through a short reflection exercise of your WABL game from the previous day.
Dates: Every Monday
Time: 7:00-7:30pm
How: Microsoft Teams
The link will be emailed out to your parents, all you have to do is jump online with paper and a pen.
TEAM ATHLETES
The Championship and 2nd Division teams from each age groups U12, U14 and U16 will have the opportunity to have tailored team Athlete Wellbeing Sessions.
These sessions are now a normal part of an athlete’s training program and as such each team will have one mind-set session with their AW Adviser each month.
Some examples of the session topics covered and discussed, but not limited to, are:
- Performance mind-set training and coaching
- Elite athlete’s sharing their stories
- Mental health literacy programs
- College preparation and insight
- Life-sport balance
- Development of non-athletic identity
- Hear from experts in S&C, Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Coaches etc.
The beauty of these sessions is that they are tailored to the needs of each individual team, thus deepening the relationships amongst the team and enhancing the support offered from their AW Adviser.
We believe these sessions are important in supporting athlete psychological wellbeing, and enhancing their performance both on and off the court.
Please contact your coach or manager for more information regarding your team’s session dates and times.
Please note: In 2022 are rolling out our Athlete Wellbeing Program with our Championship and Div 2 teams in Under 12, 14 and 16 age groups.
