The Story Behind the Hawks First Nations Round Artwork

Round 15 is First Nations Round in NBL1 West and our players will proudly wear singlets that have been specially designed by one of our U14 girls WABL Coaches, Aaron “Jungari” Sutton. Aaron has cleverly incorporated our 50 Year Celebration as part of the design. Our First Nations game will be on Friday night in Rockingham against the Flames.

We are honoured to have had Aaron involved in this project and as part of our club. Aaron and his wife Qunitlla recently won “program of the Year” at the 2023 NAIDOC Perth awards for their Deadly Minds Program which develop strong connections with Indigenous youth encouraging them to use art to relieve stress and anxiety, improving their mental health and well-being. Aaron and his wife also founded the ‘Self-Made Indigenous Corporation’.
